So, to get the the IF airport, the most common way seems to be to start in Loch modan at the northgate pass (19,17) and jump up a ravine behind the tree there. I could not for the life of me get up there, either mounted or not, but luckily, I'm a mage, and therefore have other options :) I went to IF, but instead of going into the gates, I turned right until I came to the edge of the cliff (you may remember, this is where the Day of the Dead celebration took place). I took a running jump, hit slow fall, and landed on a slope next to a few trees. Then I started climbing. About halfway there (below the "E" in Ironforge on my map) I happened along a little camp:
Not much there, but kinda interesting. Finally, I was overlooking the airport, jumped, hit slow fall and floated safely to the ground. There are several buildings, airplanes and other machinery, a non-working gryphon flight area, and lots of dwarves.
At the gryphons, I got ready for my next adventure.
